Boy & Bear to play Splendour 2010 27/4/2010
While on stage recently, Marcus Mumford from Mumford & Sons declared Boy & Bear his favourite new band.
Boy & Bear is a four-piece act from Sydney, Australia. In early 2009 Jake Tarasenko (bass), Dave Hosking (lead vocals/guitar), Killian Gavin (vocals/guitars) and Tim Hart (drums/vocals) were brought together under the auspices of a unique partnership that has fostered a celebratory, multi-instrumental blend of folk and alt-country.
Crooning vocals lift over tangibly raw, plodding guitar twangs and chugging percussion, subtly reminiscent of 70s folk ballads with an infectious velocity and richness that unveils itself as each song is played. Their sound has often been likened to that of Iron and Wine, Fleet Foxes and The Shins.
Boy & Bear have been confirmed for Splendor In The Grass this year, joining the likes of The Strokes, Pixies and Florence and The Machine. This comes off the back of a mammoth year for Boy & Bear including supporting Angus & Julia Stone and Laura Marling in Australia and UK respectively, with an upcoming tour with Lisa Mitchell and their own headlines shows to be announced shortly it’s shaping up to be a big year for Boy & Bear.
