Things just keep getting better. I've already told you how amazing my spontaneous Sydney trip is going to be (in my last blog, Follow The Music). Well it just got a whole lot more ridiculously amazing.
In order to afford Days Like This, I had to forgo Claude von Strokes gig at the Likes of You 3rd Birthday celebrations at Brown Alley. To be honest, I almost cried. But I didn't really want to pay $60 to see him at BA which would no doubt be oversold, which means a 45 minutes wait to go to the toilet. Seriously.
But today, whilst aimlessly browsing the internet, I struck gold. Stroke Gold. Claude von Stroke, the new master of minimal, is playing a gig on Saturday the 9th, on a rooftop in Sydney, in the afternoon, all for the low cost of $27.50. Wowsers. Needless to say I am now going to Days Like This AND Claude von Stroke (AND George Michael). Whenever the music gods close a door, they open a cheaper window on a rooftop. Winning!
The point of the story, the message if you will, is that there is no point saying no to gigs in January. Sure, you might not think you have enough money for everything, but somehow you always get there. And if you don't then you will have music regrets (the worst kind of regrets) that will haunt you until you're old and grey and have lost your hearing.
Do you really want to condemn yourself to that?
