If i had to describe my personal music taste in one word, it would simply be 'eclectic'. Depending on my mood/the time of day/where I'm at, you may find me whistling along to some Jack Johnson, pumping some Calvin Harris, rapping along to some NaS or air-guitaring along to some Kasabian.
As with everything else in my life, when it comes to music, I am completely non-discriminate. I don't care what's going on in your social life, how many drugs you have downed, who you are having an affair with or what your new clothing range is called; if you've got talent, you've got it! If you can make fantastic music and distribute it for the rest of us to enjoy and ponder over, then kudos to you, my friend!
I love infectious beats, heavy bass lines, catchy hooks, mesmerising lyrics and innovative production. A well though out, clever accompanying music video doesn't exactly hurt either (and no, a video that consists purely of an artist posing in various pretty outfits in different rooms of the same house making overly-expressive facial expressions does not cut it!).
I have basically come to the conclusion that music = life.
Music can move you, it can empower you, it can be useful as a conversation starter, make you feel on top of the world, comfort you when you're not, entertain you, get you thinking, get you dancing, save your life, bring back good memories, bring people together, make you cry, make you laugh, teach you how to live.
Aside from a good song, there are few things in this world that can do so much for you in the space of 4 minutes.
