more about me
My friends call me gypsy, cos I can't stay in one place for too long. I am a free-spirited, humble person and am currently boarding with a friend in Cabramatta, approximately my 25th dwelling. It's cool cos every house and suburb has it's own story which I love. The only thing which has remained constant in my life is music.... air, food and sleep are next in line.
So let's see, the first song I ever sang was "whhooaa ooooh here she comes, she's a man-eater" haha, was pretty obvious from the beginning music was going to be a big part of my life. Growing up in a single parent family, mum was a huge fan of Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Midnight Oil, Gunners, AC/DC etc. She loved to go out and we usually had her drunken friends over playing guitar and singing until all hours of the morning on weekends, so it's no surprise that rock was going to become my musical foundation.
Entering high school, I befriended a lot of islander and filipino friends who introduced me to reggae, hip-hop and rnb. I soon became a fan of the rythmatic vocals and funky beats by musicians such as Bob Marley, UB40, Bell Biv Devoe, Hi-Five, Naughty By Nature, Cyprus Hill, Aaliyah, etc. The only exception to the rule was falling head over heels for Foo Fighters in 95...something about them just bought me back and slowing I started re-kindling my roots of rock. I'm still the biggest fooies fan.
Later on I began delving into New Metal/ Alternative music and fell in love with Deftones, Kyuss, QOTSA, Katatonia and Tool. I also started checking out home-grown music like COG, Karnivool, Little Birdy, Butterfly Effect, The Fumes and Trial Kennedy whom i've seen most perform live.
I think winning this comp would be amazing and definitely a life-changing experience, would sure beat working in an office every day! Firstly getting to see most of my favourite bands in gigs across the world would be nothing short of phenomenal! Secondly i've never been overseas so that would be bloody awesome too.
