It's easy to write about something you love.
The long-awaited second album from the beautiful and talented Colbie Caillat is impressively easy to listen to debunking any thoughts she was just another one-hit wonder. The gentle melodies make it perfect for calm, laid-back, and happy moods although the tracks are very similar and seem to melt into each other. With each listen the album grows on you and the songs create their individual identity and in no time you’ll find yourself singing along. Caillat’s gentle vocals provide a great backdrop for karaoke unlike other female singers such as Beyonce and Mariah Carey with whom you might struggle to sound good when you try to sing along. This also adds to a sense of accessibility to relate to, respect, and enjoy Caillat. This album is very reminiscent of her multi-platinum debut ‘Coco’ in 2007 which will certainly please fans. The only concern is that there’s not much growth from the previous album to this. It may be Caillat solidifying her image and sound in music or it could be that she’s recycled her successful formulas of creating an album. Stand out tracks include first single ‘Fallin’ For You’, the playful ‘You Got Me’, and sweet sounds of ‘Break Through’. ‘Break through’ is undeniably an uplifting album and will not disappoint any fan of Ms Caillat.
