Red Ink @ The Evelyn, October 2009
When friends say come see my band play and you hesitantly agree, it is not because you think that they are untalented, it is just that you don't want to be put in the position when you actually hate their music to grin, cough and lie through your teeth.I was lucky this was not the case for my experience with Red Ink. Red Ink is a Frankston based 4 piece band that are able to pack out a room, get the punters dancing in that uncontrollable way that has the running man being revived and the Melbourne shuffle seeing some kind of resurgence. I have to admit I danced like a freak, whooped like I had listened to house my whole life and, and may have caused one or two body injuries out of pure enthusiasm. I am now in the strange position of my friend moving from buddy to Buddy Holly in my eyes. I even changed my Facebook status to reflect my adoration of his band. The question is: How can one make the change from mate to groupie?
