It's spinning tooooo faaast
No this isn't about the Tea Cups at Disneyland (Although they were RAD!) rather about a musician / bands life cycle.
The Bloody Beetroots just performed at Home Sydney... they've come out to Sydney a few times - even earlier this year but all of a sudden they are HUGE... the show sold out in less than 30 hours, the place was rammed and the excitement was overwhelming.
A few months ago, this excitement was saved for Deadmau5... I was in Europe at the time and people were jumping from Holland to Germany, down to France to Spain... it seemed to translate to Australia too. So surely, Deadmau5 headling Stereosonic was going to be massive... yet they had to move the show from The Enmore to a smaller venue, The Metro and there were only 700 people there (it holds up to 1200 for acts like Steve Aoki).
So why are acts these days going so damn fast... while we still go on about Joy Division, Bowie, The Smiths etc we are churning through buzz bands / DJs! It's getting to the point where even promoters aren't keeping up... the Stereosonic poster has Deadmau5 up in big font while The Bloody Beetroots is in little font about 4 rows down the line up... it's crazy!!
I wonder where this whole buzz concept is going to lead and how many acts we are going to eat up excitedly then spit out just as quickly...
