3 Fridays of gigs: Friday 1 Seal
Hey my fellow My World Tourists :) soooooooooooo......what's been happening??? Well, quite a lot actually. Apart from the hustle and bustle of pre-xmas retail work getting me down, I have been gigging up a storm!!
It all started 3 Fridays ago when roxxaneg and I went to see a guy who is known to us as Seal, but known to his mother as Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel (I know!! A mouthful right?). Having grown up listening to his MASSIVE hits 'Kiss From A Rose' and 'Crazy', Rox and I were beyond excited. We were also crying with laughter before, during and after his gig. Why?? Well......you should've seen the crowd!! We were, by far, the youngest people there!! There were walking frames and sticks, 30 somethings trying to look 17, 50 year old cougars that smelt like they'd bathed in perfume and this one gay guy who sat in the row in front of us and proceeded to shout "You're HOT!!" whenever there was a lull in the applause. Oh man we laughed!!!
So, back to the music. Seal was awesome!! I expected him to be good, but not that good. His voice was flawless. From his big hits, to his covers of big hits (from his amazing soul covers album aptly titled 'Soul'), to his little known stuff off his 5 albums, Seal never faulted. He was so professional, had a great stage presence and the cougars were just lapping it up. All in all this was probably one of the more wholesome, family friendly gigs I have ever been to. In saying that, I enjoyed every second of it and can finally say I've seen 'Kiss From A Rose' live!!
Yet another moment in music I can check off my list :)
