I have oh so many things to say, but my words run away to leave my mind blank. I'm going to recommend 10 songs that changed the world buy June Sawyers because I was very pleased to read chapter 9. I am an antichrist, which talks about Anarchy in the UK. Whilest I only read the one chapter due to my ever increasing range of commitments, (Which may lead me to commintment of a different kind) I am rarely impressed by writings on the history of punk, (as she has actually gone beyond compiling quotes) so I would have to assume the rest of the book would not dissapoint. Who knows I may yet be convinced "Strange fruit" has some kind of musical value. (I get why it's important, I just think it is a terrible song)
Anyway, the book provides more than just a dumb potentially meaningless list, but explores the social and cultural impact of music in society. Aside from that there are 100 songs listed after which also "changed the world" many of which I recommend a person listens too at some point before they die. However they seem to be from the 60's onwards and sadly there are a few historically important songs which were given no credence.
I'll shall reflect on this and maybe come up with my own list.
