You may find it somewhat interesting to know that I can't play the flute. I've never even tried. I was forced to play the recorder in primary school, but the two are rather quite different. Especially because my recorder was made of plastic and I doubt you'll find too many plastic flutes, although I'm hesitant to say they don't exist. I'm sure if I google, someone, somewhere will have a plastic flute, probably electric, with colourful fluorescent squiggles down the sides. My mum actually had a really lovely wooden bass recorder which was about as long as my arm. I'm sure she still has it hidden away somewhere. I don't know why she has it. I don't think she ever tried to play the flute either. Why is any of this of importance? Well, the truth is, it's not. But it does bear some relevance in that a piccolo - my user name - is a small flute about the size of a recorder. It wasn't made for small people, however, but normal sized people who wanted to make flute noises, but at a higher pitch. They can actually be made in various keys, much like a harmonica. I don't play the harmonica either, although one day I will.
