We managed to get front row and it was well worth it. As they walked on to stage, they were met with a roaring entry, I managed to fist bump Burk as he came on (he denied my high five). They started and ended well. Consistent, energetic and amazing. Now I know it seems like I say that a lot but it is true. Promise. Although they didn't talk directly to the crowd, they had an effects board that had pre-recorded 'talks' to the crowd, it was a nice touch, an new spin on an old classic if you will. Songs that hit high notes for me were Gonna Kill You and Casino. The Good News was also pretty good. Calvin, the drummer, was an expert and AWESOME. He at one stage was pretending if he was running while playing drums. I also thought originally he was some crazy old guy at first. Needless to say I was embarrassed when I realised who it was. Paul (Bass/Keys/Backing Vocals) was also amazing, his transfer from bass to keys was seamless. And finally Burk was also note-for-note perfect. As nice as he was in person, it was like he had transformed into some sort of possessed rocker on stage and they were well worth the wait and for $20 it was well worth it and cannot wait to see them again at Southbound.
